Biography:
Birgit Linhart is a researcher at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. She has been working in the field of allergy research since 2000. She developed hybrid allergens consisting of the major allergens of an allergen source for improved diagnosis and therapy, which have been already tested in a clinical trial. Furthermore she was involved in the development of numerous hypoallergenic allergen derivatives. She has a focus on animal models of allergy investigating the pathomechanisms of allergic disease as well as the mechanisms underlying allergen-specific immunotherapy. She currently participates in the FAST project supported by the EU which aims to develop safe and efficient vaccines for the treatment of food allergies and test them in clinical trials.
