EFIS-EJI 1st Caucasian School in Allergy and Immunology was the first one entirely held in Tbilisi, Georgia on October 3-4, 2016 by the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology and the International Network of Universities for Molecular Allergology and Immunology under of auspice of EFIS.

The main purpose of the School was to highlight advances in molecular allergology and its implications for allergy diagnosis and treatment by immunological strategies, especially specific immunotherapy.
The event brought together 115 participants - mostly PhD students and clinicians at the beginning of their carriers from Georgia and from 10 different countries, such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Besides giving lectures at the meeting, speakers had the practical stations for bi-lateral and interactive discussion in small group of interests, such as structure and clinical importance of allergenic molecules; molecular diagnosis of rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis; Circassia’s Toleromune® allergy therapy; practical training in in-vitro allergy diagnosis. Prof. Winfried Pickl promoted EFIS-activities and provided information about EFIS. “Meeting with Professor” by moderation of Rudolf Valenta lasted more than 2 hours due to the increased interest of the audience.

Without doubt, the School will be impulse for future development of joint scientific and educational collaboration between the members of national immunology and allergology societies under the auspice of EFIS.

Comments from participants:

Armenia participats georgiaThank you for organization such interesting and important meeting. The knowledge obtained during this event is very useful and practical. That is great idea to discuss many immunological aspects of allergy and immunotherapy, because it is critically important for young specialists to understand the underlying mechanisms. The lectures of prof. R. Valenta gives a new ways of thinking and inspire to find out undiscovered fields of molecular allergy. The EFIS's grant encouraged me to bring an important knowledges to my nation and to contribute the evolvement the allergology in Armenia. So my case report is the result of the first step of INUNIMAI. We appreciate the efforts of INUNIMAI for making molecular allergology available in developing countries. Hope that will be continued.

Sevan Iritsyan, Armenia

Many thanks for the wonderful school!

005It was very useful meeting answering many questions interested me as young scientist and PhD student and giving the possibility to visit lectures of leading international professionals in molecular allergology and immunology. I won EFIS grant and received a diploma for the best poster presentation, and all these competitions were fair and transparent. School was organized on the highest level. I would be happy to participate in next meetings.

I would like to wish prosperous and successful activity as well as great achievements to the School. Thank you very much for the knowledge!

Saltabaeva U., Astana Medical University, Kazakhstan

Many thanks for such warm welcome, brilliant organization and meeting with real professionals. Talks of young scientists were also very good. Trainings and support for young scientists on international levels are pleased much. For Ukrainian delegation is an extremely important step on the way to Europe. Meetings with scientists and clinicians for small groups as well as training with Professor R. Valenta were also organized perfectly. Special thanks to the Head of the local organizing committee Professor M. Gotua. It would be nice to organize more meeting like this!

On behalf on Ukrainian delegation,
